Tampa Bay

Amid the bungalows, the low-slung ranches, the Mediterranean-style revivals that have characterized so much of Tampa Bay’s housing for so long, a different look is taking hold the modern home.

With their clean lines, open spaces and expansive use of glass, they flow smoothly from indoors to out and bespeak an uncluttered, yet sophisticated lifestyle.

As the bay area becomes more eclectic in its tastes, from food and drink to arts and entertainment, it is stretching the boundaries of design as well.

We have empty nesters, we have young professionals, we have members of the gay community. One common trait we all share is that we are students of fine design, we read the magazines, we travel, we have been different places and appreciate good quality design.

The Tampa Bay area really offers a bit of everything – a top ranked family zoo, a wide range of interesting museums (the Tampa Museum of Art is wonderful), the Tampa Theater (one of the top rated theaters in the world) the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the performing arts is really on the ball and an amazing experience if you are new to theatre or an avid attendee.

Gorgeous nature preserves everywhere you turn (check out Hillsborough state park for starters), and on and on.

Additionally, the area is home to fantastic local urban family owned restaurants and coffee shops, despite the perception as it being a chain only destination…this is simply not true!

It’s one of the top rated cities for fitness, nature lovers, coffee enthusiasts, artists and night life.

Home to the Historic district Ybor city, a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida, located just northeast of downtown. It was founded in the 1880’s by Vicente Martinez-Ybor and other cigar manufacturers and was populated by thousands of immigrants, mainly from Cuba, Spain, and Italy.

Ybor City is Tampa’s enchanting historic district. By day a sightseer’s delight, by night a hub of adult-oriented entertainment as party-goers parade from venue to venue sampling the wide variety of nighttime attractions.

Whatever type of nighttime entertainment you are looking for can be found here. Live music performances abound at hot-spots such as the RITZ which features both local and national artists.

If you’re looking to sample a few of Tampa’s popular craft beers, check out the Tampa Bay Brewing Company. At the forefront of the local brewing scene, this popular bar and restaurant feature a good selection in-house brews such as the favorite Old Elephant Foot IPA. The pub grub featured here is also very good.

In addition to bars and clubs, you can check out one of the many tattoo parlors, buy a souvenir, relax with a Hookah pipe, or satisfy the munchies at late-night pizza joints. To help you decide on the best nightlife options in Ybor City, 10 Best has compiled a list of ten popular hot spots.
